The 1999 Icons by Bouchard Père & Fils lot highlights the diversity, excellence, and ageability of the House's most iconic cuvées through the spectrum of an exceptional vintage, the last of the millennium! Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy's oldest wine merchants and one of the largest landowners in the Côte d'Or. Over the centuries, the House has acquired highly renowned parcels for a total of 321 acres with 30 acres classified as Grands Crus and 183 as Premiers Crus. The lot includes Bouchard Père & Fils "Monopole" since 1872, Beaune Clos de La Mousse, their exclusive vineyards Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus and their first parcel acquired in 1775 in Volnay Les Caillerets.

The lot also includes a jeroboam (3L) of Champagne Henriot 1990 in homage to the Henriot family who, in 1995, took the torch from the Bouchard family, owner of one of the few historic Champagne houses, as well as the first family from Champagne to venture to Burgundy.

At the heart of Bouchard Père & Fils' winemaking philosophy is the commitment to showcasing the truest and finest expression of each terroir, while honoring the traditions and specificities of each vintage, with respect to the land. Of the most enduring vintages, come the most exceptional wines! 1999 was a hotter than normal vintage with frequent alternating rains, cold and hot waves. Today, the Pinot Noirs in this lot display superbly deep and lively complexity with rich, present tannins. The Chardonnays are showing great purity and equal complexity, from citrus to stone fruit notes and a crisp, fresh palate.
