Zachys HK Achieves HK$45.6M/US$5.89M (Feb. '17)

Zachys Hong Kong achieved outstanding results in its first auction in 2017, Fine & Rare Wines and Spirits Auction Featuring The Executive Cellar – Part I. This highly anticipated auction realized HK$45,642,765 / US$5,889,389, starring some of the most sought after cellars in the world, along with the other consignments from renowned private collectors.

Bids in the auction book were steadfast and The Mandarin Oriental was jam-packed for this one-day auction. Telephone bids kept coming in and many clients purposely flew in from around the globe to bid aggressively in the room and to catch a piece of the action. High bids came in from Hong Kong, Japan, mainland China, Thailand, the Philippines, the United States and Canada.

Hammer prices for DRC, Pétrus, Le Pin, Latour and Lafite Rothschild soared to new heights. The rare Jeroboams from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s 2005 vintage reached astronomical prices and broke many world records thrice over. One Jeroboam (3000ML) of Grands Echézeaux Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2005 realized HK$134,749 (US$17,387), more than doubled its pre-sale high estimate; a Jeroboam (3000ML) of Romanée-Conti Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2005 realized HK$673,746 (US$86,935) surpassing its pre-sale mid-estimate, and the Magnums Assortment Case of from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2005 nearly doubled its pre-sale estimate realizing HK$563,502.5 (US$72,710).
