Zachys is currently accepting consignments of all sizes for our live and online auctions. Not sure if auction is right for you? We accept consignments of all sizes, so if you’re unsure, it’s best to ask. The first step is to call or email one of our Wine Specialists and we’ll talk you through every step of the process.

Submit An Inventory Of Your Collection

The first step in the auction process is to send us an inventory. If you don’t have an inventory, or can’t do one yourself, our specialists can often put one together at no cost. Ask us! If you do have one, it should include quantity, size, vintage, and wine description—the name of the winery, Domaine or Château, and other pertinent information such as vineyard or cuvée. We accept all sorts of inventories—in a Word document, an Excel spreadsheet, and even handwritten. Please include the best way to contact you with the inventory, and send it to us via email, fax, or mail.

Wine Evaluation and Appraisal

Once we have your inventory, one of our Specialists will appraise it, and then discuss with you which of your wines are appropriate for auction, and at what value. Zachys offers a competitive seller’s commission on a sliding scale based on the value of your consignment.

Often, consignors need to work within a particular time frame. We’ll discuss all aspects of timing when we first discuss your collection.

Shipping And Logistics

All wines to be auctioned by Zachys Wine Auctions must be sent to our warehouse for assessment and cataloging prior to sale. Our dedicated logistics team makes national and international packing and shipping—whether to our temperature controlled warehouse in New York or Hong Kong--a seamless process. In some circumstances, Zachys sends an experienced team to your cellar for evaluation, assessment and packing.

What Happens to the Wine Once it’s in the Zachys Warehouse?

A team of property specialists will assess each bottle going into our print catalog. Once your consignment is assessed for conditions, your wine specialist will send along a confirmed inventory for your records.

World’s Best Wine Auction Promotion

Whether your wine is being offered in a traditional or live auction, it will be accompanied by an extensive marketing push across print, email, and digital platforms. For live auctions, you’ll receive a catalog with full-color photography about a month before the sale. This catalog is accompanied by a multi-stage marketing and advertising push, and is sent to thousands of fine wine collectors all over the world.

After the auction, you’ll get a detailed report of the final price for each lot in your consignment. Zachys is proud to have very high “sell through rates,” meaning that in our auctions very few lots go unsold. If you do have an unsold lot, we can return the wine to you, or re-offer it in the next auction at no additional charge. 60 days after the live auction (or on the 25th of the month for online auctions), you’ll receive payment for your sale.
