This auction we’re calling “London II,” the second of many on the horizon. And it’s an honor to be back. We’ve packed it with incredible consignments—and the type of wines and spirits Zachys London is quickly becoming known for!

I’m going to start with the lot that is, to me, the top lot of this auction: for the first time in history, bidders will have the chance to acquire an entire barrel of 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers from one of Burgundy’s most legendary domaines, Domaine Fourrier (Lot 399). This barrel represents the first and only time that Fourrier will be offering the entire production of Les Sentiers, which will be custom bottled according to the winning bidders desires and delivered late 2021. Jean-Marie and Vicki are also thrilled to invite the winning bidders to the Domaine for a unique barrel tasting experience.

This auction also features an exciting winery-direct consignment from a family that is very close to our hearts: Emidio Pepe (Lots 879 – 943). Rare bottlings include (not one – but three!) specially crafted 4L of 1985 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (with an incredible story!), the first ever “single vineyard” bottlings of 2015 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, and the exceptionally rare Cerasuolo—a wine that is made for the local market and never exported. In authentic Abruzzese style, the Pepe’s have also included two formidable lifestyle lots – an exclusive weekend at the winery with cookbook author and legend, Mimi Thorisson, and a charity lot featuring a custom work of art by renowned photographer and artist, Antoine Wagner, for which the full proceeds will go to benefit Natural Resources Defense Council to help fight the battle against climate change. Marchesi Antinori has also generously opened up their library to offer some incredible large formats and back vintages, including the rare Matarocchio, a wine created to reflect the pinnacle expression of Cabernet Franc, made from a small, 6 hectare parcel with vines from a Bordeaux clonal selection. Bordeaux may be the spiritual home of the grape, but Antinori has taken it to amazing new heights (Lots 460 – 576).

Of course, no great auction is complete without great White Burgundy. For that reason, we present to you one of the rarest collections of Arnaud Ente that we’ve ever come across (Lots 703 – 781). Without question, one of the greatest domaines to watch in the Cote de Beaune today due to their commitment to the vineyards and to delivering purity, precision and grace in every bottle. Our colleague Edouard also has his finger on the pulse of Chartreuse here in Europe (Lots 402 – 423). This offering is nothing short of remarkable itself — amongst the top lots is an exceedingly rare bottle of Chartreuse Jaune Voiron 1840-1869, as well as a bottle Chartreuse Blanche Fourvoirie from the period 1878-1903, amongst many others.
