When Brian and I started in 2006, it was on a shoestring and we had no winery or vineyard. We made our first 150 cases in a rented space and sold those bottles to afford to make the next vintage. In those early times, we made a little bit more wine from the sale of the previous vintage each year and eventually we needed more space. We wanted to build a winery but certainly did not have the necessary funds. I suggested crowd funding, which Brian admittedly was dubious of at first. But we sent a letter to our mailing list and within a few months we had 100 amazing people all willing to gift us $1700 each, which was an important part of the funding to build our winery. With that the Founders Circle began. Brian made this 2012 wine for them as a thank you, and each of those 100 people received a magnum of this special Pinot noir, our Founders Cuvée. This wine has never been available for purchase, so this is a rare chance to have a wine that is part of our history and is full of our heart and soul. - Clare Carver, Big Table Farm
