It is hard to believe we are already into April, the flowers are beginning to bloom, the clocks have moved forward, and we are very proud at Zachys to present our first European live streamed auction of the year. We have for you a stunning line-up of wines that are sure to get the heart racing.
The core of this sale comes from a single longtime wine enthusiast and dedicated collector from the UK, who over many years has amassed an extensive collection of jewels from Burgundy’s top producers. Spanning from the heavyweights like Roumier, Rousseau, and Engel to younger superstars like Benjamin Leroux and Patrice Rion, what makes this a compelling collection for any lover of Burgundian wine is the diversity and caliber of lots in the offering. While each and every lot in this consignment is a gem in and of itself, a few of the standouts which deserve special mention include a ten vintage vertical of Roumier Bonnes-Mares (lots 223 to 232), thirteen vintages of Rousseau Clos Saint Jacques going back to 2000 (lots 338 to 352) and a great deal of Dujac and Cathiard.
We’d be remiss not to mention that this collection also features a concise but incredible selection of Bordeaux, and an astonishing late release selection of Château d’Yquem dating back to 1934 (including stellar vintages such as the 1937 and 1967).
