It’s a pleasure to write a July auction introduction—it wasn’t too long ago that we didn’t have July auctions! But the idea of the auction “season” is a bit dated I think—we’ve got so much great wine to sell, why not insert a July auction? Please note: there is a limited print catalog run for this auction. If you need a print catalog, please let me know at auction@zachys.com!
As usual, we’ve got a great line up of wines for your bidding pleasure.
Some of the top lots include various vintages of Chevalier Montrachet from Domaine d’Auvenay (lots 68-82), DRC bought on release (Lots 90-103), Marc Newson’s amazing Dom Perignon (Lots 113-114), some rare Arnoux-Lachaux (Lots 127-128). And many, many more.
Two other special consignments:
One, from Anthony’s Pier 4 restaurant, Lots 469-539. Mature Yquem, Jean Gros, First Growths, and many more. Anthony’s Pier 4 was a legendary restaurant, opened in 1963 and closed in 2013, and at one point sat 500 guests. Safe to say: the wine list was an essential part of the restaurant.
Two, a consignment I’m very excited to announce, the first-ever Wendouree consignment. Lovers of Wendouree will be excited—or perhaps disappointed, for those that don’t like sharing—to see the most cult of the Australian wineries getting the spotlight here, as lots 540-553.
We have a huge July for you. Not only this auction, but an enormous, fantastic, Hong Kong auction, including the Dynasty Collection, from a longtime friend of mine. And we’ve already got three single-owners lined up for the fall including (mark your calendars) September 16 at The Pool in New York City. We’ll also be back at Smith & Wollensky this fall, so stay tuned!
See you at the auction,
Jeff
