Join Chef Alexander Smalls for a dinner for 8, hosted in either his home or yours (in NYC). Charles Antin, Zachys Head of Auction Sales + Auctioneer will supply the rare wine pairings for this curated dinner. Alexander’s prolific path is marked by copious achievements: he is a James Beard Award winning chef, author, raconteur, and Grammy- and Tony-award winning artist, but perhaps above all consummate dinner party host. Alexander was the visionary co-owner of renowned restaurants Minton’s and The Cecil — NYC’s first Afro-Asian American restaurant, which was named “Best New Restaurant in America” by Esquire in 2014. Over the past three decades, this South Carolina native has traveled the world studying the cooking techniques and foodways of the African diaspora.

His most recent undertaking has been the creation—the founding and curating---of Alkebulan: the first modern contemporary African dining hall, which opened in October of 2021 for Dubai Expo 2020. The dining hall, whose prototype includes ambitious plans for opening additional venues in London and Harlem, was the highest grossing restaurant at the Dubai Expo, which surpassed 25 million visitors. Over your multi-course dinner and in collaboration with Alexander’s menu, Charles will pair rare and collectible wines, with your input. Depending on your personal tastes, wines can include Mouton Rothschild, Haut-Brion, Gaja, Chave, Solaia, Taittinger, Fourrier, Raveneau, Abreu, Opus One, Colgin, Scarecrow and others.

Dinner to be scheduled at a mutually agreeable date in NYC, and expires one year from auction.
