The Produttori del Barbaresco's 2011 Barbaresco presents an intriguing combination of the expressive, resonant fruit typical of the vintage wedded to a firm sense of tannin. Rose petal, mint, cherry pit and chalk notes open up on the expressive bouquet and mid-palate before classic Nebbiolo tannins make their presence felt. The flavors are already a touch forward, which suggests the 2011 won't be one of the more longer-lived vintages here, but that is of course in relative terms for a house where the wines typically deliver fine drinking for several decades. 90, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

A wine of reserve and tension, the 2013 Barbaresco Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga is going to need at least a few years in bottle to be at its very best. Today, the Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga is somewhat unyielding, but also persistent and beautifully focused, with striking aromatics and a core of sweet, perfumed fruit that just needs time to emerge. Aeration in the glass brings out hints of lavender, sage, mint and rose petal to round things out. Although it is embryonic, the 2013 clearly possesses tremendous balance and class, not to mention tons of potential. 95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

The 2011 Barbaresco Gaiun has entered a phase of dormancy in which the tannins are especially present, while the sexiness of the vintage is less obvious. Today, the 2011 Gaiun is quite raw and powerful, which is unusual for a wine that is typically much more sexy. 93+, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
