A Rare First-Edition Bottle of 55 Year-Old Yamazaki!

Zachys is delighted to offer one of the rarest bottles of Japanese whisky on the planet: the Yamazaki 55. This first release of Yamazaki 55 is extremely limited, with 100 bottles initially released in Japan in 2020 and scant quantities of the same whisky released globally in 2021.  

The Yamazaki 55 is Suntory’s tribute to whisky making in the 1960s, the golden age of Japanese whisky, when the name “Suntory” was adopted by the company and became known internationally.

The Yamazaki 55 is a blend of Mizunara cask whisky distilled in 1960 under the supervision of founder Shinjiro Torii (the name “Suntory” is a amalgamation of the English “sun” and an Anglazation of “Torii) and the White Oak cask whisky distilled in 1964. The Yamazaki 55 is presented in a crystal bottle with the word “Yamazaki” engraved in calligraphy and featuring gold dust and lacquer on the age marking. The bottle is wrapped in handmade Echizen washi paper and bound with a Kyo-kumihimo plaited cord, from Kyoto. The bottle is delivered in a bespoke box made from native Japanese Mizunara wood and coated with Suruga lacquer. 

Please note this bottle will not be available for delivery until December 2021.

This bottle of Yamazaki is being sold in the EU in free circulation (and is stored in Rotterdam, The Netherlands). Please note that depending on the status of the buyer and the delivery terms within the EU, EU VAT may be applied and due. Shipment of the bottle to a non-EU jurisdiction will result in no EU VAT being owed but the buyer may be subject to local tax requirements.
