This fall Zachys will be celebrating our 20th anniversary of wine auctions and we will be kicking off the celebration as only the world's leading wine auction company can: with The Unicorn Collection which includes, without hyperbole, the greatest collection of rare Burgundy ever to come to market, period.

In the wine world, a Unicorn is defined as a bottle that is highly desirable, of mythic status, and virtually impossible to attain. When we first saw this cellar, on paper, we could hardly believe our eyes. The title for it crystallized instantly. There weren’t just one or two Unicorns, which would have been rare and incredible enough, there was a full stable of them - bottle after bottle of the “only one ever produced” and “never before seen at commercial auction.”

There truly has never been a wine auction offering with this many Unicorns, ever. These are the only bottles of their kind in existence and are noted as “UNICORN SELECTIONS” throughout the offering in the catalog. Additionally, we’ve drawn your attention to dozens of “RARITY SELECTIONS” to denote exceptionally rare bottles.

We are in possession of dozens of emails to and from various châteaux, domaines, wineries and importers with whom the consignor confirmed production numbers directly over the years. When we say “the only one ever produced,” that fact has been fully corroborated. Even the older Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Champagne were almost entirely bought on release by our consignor.
