Well, we’ve done it again. We’re combining the best of both worlds in this auction so mark your calendars: November 10, Manhatta Restaurant, 10am ET for A Winemaker’s Cellar: The Collection of Peter Hut! The cellar of Peter Hut—truly one of the greatest cellars ever to come to market, especially if you’re into Bordeaux, Sauternes, and Port, though the California and Burgundy isn’t exactly anything to scoff at. Peter Hut was a meticulous collector, indeed the family allowed us access to a stack in receipts 8 inches tall. It’s not an exaggeration to say that nearly every bottle in this collection, with the exception of the 19th-century bottles, most of which were purchased at Christie’s in the ‘70s, was bought on or near release, by Pete himself, and put in his home cellar in Connecticut. Almost every wine is single-owner and single-cellar. On the younger side of things is the remainder of this sale with several other lovely collections. There’s a selection of amazing, and youthful Burgundy, from some of the top (and most hard to find) producers like Tremblay, Bizot, Arnoux-Lachaux, Mugneret-Gibourg and of course DRC, Roumier, Truchot, and Dujac to a section of Cult Cali, including Harlan, SQN, Marcassin and everything in between!

We expect this sale to be full so please RSVP today to aopromolla@zachys.com. Several 3 and 6-liter bottles from Pete’s collection will be opened, and we ask guests to bring something to share to toast Pete’s memory with his collection and the other great cellars in this sale.
