A Winemaker’s Cellar: The Collection of Peter Hut is such an extensive collection that we couldn’t fit it all into our November 10th live sale (do check it out if you haven’t already). For some background, the cellar of Peter Hut is truly one of the greatest cellars ever to come to market, especially if you’re into Bordeaux, Sauternes, and Port, though the California and Burgundy isn’t exactly anything to scoff at. Peter Hut was a meticulous collector, indeed the family allowed us access to a stack of receipts 8 inches tall. It’s not an exaggeration to say that nearly every bottle in this collection was bought on or near release, by Pete himself, and put in his home cellar in Connecticut. Almost every wine is single-owner and single-cellar. All of the lots in this zCollections come from the same collection, so same great wines and same great provenance (you can read more about it in the live sale’s catalog if you’re curious)!
