With the notable exceptions of auctions sourced straight
from the cellars of famed restaurants (the recent sales of wines from Enoteca
Pinchiorri, and Maguy Le Coze and Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin spring to mind),
this is arguably the most food-friendly collection we have ever offered.
Heading into cozier weather and with the holidays nearly upon us, every item on
this client’s list had us smacking our lips and dreaming up menus.
Thus, Feast Your Palate: A Single Owner zCollection of
Perfect Holiday Pairings. We designed this special zCollection to end on
November 2nd, in order to allow ample time for purchases to travel
and rest before gracing your table. The quantities suggest a festive selection,
too: averaging between 2 and 3 bottles per wine, with about a hundred magnums
and even eight 3-liters to boot, these lots beg to be brought home and shared
with intimate groups of family and friends.
There’s Champagne to kick things off, of course, and loads
of white and red Burgundy to sate the palate of pairing classicists. Beyond
that, loads of wines rarely seen in our auctions await: Beaujolais from Yvon
Metras; Albert Boxler’s Pinot Gris and Riesling; six vintages of Saumur
Champigny Le Bourg from Clos Rougeard; Clape’s Cote Du Rhone bottlings… There
is even a section of Rhys’s Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs for those of you who
like to drink domestically on Thanksgiving, ranging from half bottle to double
magnum.
