I can’t believe I’m saying this but: we’re back at ZUMA for a LIVE Auction! Not a studio sale. A real-life, in-person, live auction, like the days of yore (but don’t worry, still live-streamed for those of you who can’t make it!).
This sale is truly a great one. I haven’t seen so much white Burgundy in a while - Coche-Dury, Domaine Leflaive, Raveneau, DRC. There’s also a ton of Rousseau, Roumier, more DRC, and Dujac. The “lead consignment” which we’ve named “The Spice of Life,” is a stunner, and includes more Harlan large formats that we’ve seen in a while, as well as a 12-pack of 1990 Le Pin, among other gems. This consignment also has a counterpart: a single-owner online sale in October, also called “Spice of Life,” and a retail offering. To see the retail offering, email PMessa@zachys.com and reference “Spice of Life.”
Second, the highlight of the day, a true "Evening Sale," of epic proportions...The X Factor (lots 1001 to the end), which will begin after the multivendor portion at approximately 6:30pm EST. As the title of the collection suggests, there’s just something extra about this Single Owner even in the upper echelon of cellars. The X Factor is only for the discerning, for those drinkers who have stopped dabbling and doubled down on the alpha and omega of wine. For example, there's a methuselah (yes 6 whole liters) of 1993 Romanée-Conti, a full case of 1999 Echezeaux Henri Jayer for Georges Jayer, a Bordeaux section the contains nearly every giant of the past 40 years such as ‘82 Mouton, ‘90 Margaux, ‘89 Haut Brion, ’82 Lafite, and then there are the cases of multi vintage Krug! Need I say more?
So, we present to you these two auctions. The multi-vendor sale, this one, immediately followed by the single-owner “X Factor.” I’m writing this letter on October 5, and if the last year has taught me anything, it’s that restrictions can change on a dime. So we reserve the right to convert this sale to a Studio Sale, should the restrictions in NYC change. That said, we’re planning for a fully live auction, so RSVP to AOpromolla@zachys.com, send your proof of vaccination (which is required by NYC), and go into the cellar to pull a few bottles. We’ll be bringing some great wines, and we expect you to, too! We will be serving dinner for the X-Factor sale, but this auction is too late for lunch. There will be snacks, and of course wine!
Importantly, we’ve already got an amazing December lined up and TWO single-owner sales for 2022. We are at an amazing time for wine auctions. You should likely think about consigning or pruning the cellar a bit. It’s crazy not to consider it for things you know you won’t drink, whether wine or spirits. Email us at Consignments@zachys.com ASAP to be a part of what we’ll look back on as a high-water mark.
Any questions about this sale or X Factor, please let me know.
